Our Employee Giving Story: Dr. Lyle and Megan Biegler
Lyle Biegler, MD and his wife, Megan, both felt called to work in the health care field, a calling that led them both to Avera.
“Working for Avera means that we’re part of a larger family beyond the walls of our home, the boundaries of our community, our state and even our country,” Megan said. “To see all who seek our services as neighbors is why we give back to Avera; not only our time, mental and physical energy, but our financial resources as well.”
The Bieglers started at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center in 2004, Megan as an administrative fellow and Lyle as a family medicine resident. They moved on to Avera St. Luke’s Hospital three years later, and started donating to the employee giving campaign about 10 years ago. They love their work, and both feel that the Avera’s values fit very well with their own.
Lyle sees a wide variety of patients every day, from immigrants to newborn babies to the elderly and everything in between.
“He truly works on the front line of health care. In the course of a day he counsels patients on anything from parenting, preventive care and medication management,” Megan said.
Megan works as a project specialist. “My projects stretch beyond the walls of our clinics, into our hospital, the community of Aberdeen and beyond,” Megan said. “While I spend almost none of my day working directly with patients, I feel a true connection of my work back to the mission of Avera.”
