New Look, Same You
The 2019 Avera Sacred Heart Grand Give conducted a live Fund-A-Need during the event to raise over $8,500 for “New Look, Same You.” Thanks to a matching gift from Kyle and Kristi Tacke, one night of giving provided the spark needed to get this program off the ground.
“My wife was diagnosed with cancer in January 2019, so we sought treatment at the Prairie Center, and as part of the treatment, she lost her hair,” said Kyle Tacke, Regional Vice President for Avera Medical Group. “She worked with a wig and beauty consultant there to get a wig, and found a lot of value in the process and the results.”
Both Kyle and Kristi felt that cancer patients have enough hardships, and that New Look, Same You on a local level could save people an out-of-town trip, so they started developing a plan.
“We were going to figure it out one way or another, and that’s when my wife and I talked with the foundation and the cancer center,” Kyle said. “We’re funding it ourselves, but it’s a lot easier to raise money if you have matching funds.”
Thanks to the Tackes’ dedication and a push from the Grand Give, New Look, Same You is starting to take off in Yankton. “I just want a program that’s seamless and accessible for the people that need it,” Kyle said.
